Coming up with yummy tangy flavored CHUKKA KURA SABJI for our dinner with Jowar roti. A delicious and healthy combination. Easy to prepare and moreover it is light and easy digestible dish at dinner time. Jowar roti with a different kind of curry daily is our dinner.
Generally we should aim to eat at least 3 to 4 servings of leafy greens for a for a week in addition to normal veggeis that we consume.
This is very simple and less time consuming recipe. It is sour in taste. To balance out the flavor and tangyness one can use our great green chillies.
Chukka kura can be made in various forms. I like to prepare in the form of curry.
OK. Let us go to prepare.
Ingredients
- Chukkakura
- Turmeric powder
- Fresh coconut
- Required salt
- Green mirchi
- Oil
- Mustard seeds
- Hing
How I did
- Wash chukka kura well to remove dirt. Rinsing multiple times is best.
- Cook chukka kura/ katta palak with very little water, turmeric powder and a pinch of salt in pressure cooker till 4 to 5 whistles.
- Chukkakura cooks faster and releases water.
- Mean time grind fresh coconut, green mirchi and salt into smooth paste.
- After cooker is cooled down, remove the the lid.
- See the fine green paste like chukka kura.
- Mix the grounded paste into cooked chukka kura .
- Give a good stir and cook for 2 to 3 minutes till the raw smell of green mirchi and coconut paste goes off.
- Switch off the stove.
- Add the popu to it with oil, mustard seeds, hing.
- Mix this popu to chukka kura.
See the aroma full of your kitchen. See the taste, really finger licking. It goes well with rice and roti.
My Note
- By adding fresh coconut paste, curry tastes good.
- The consistency depends on the recipe you are trying to make ie for rice or roti etc.
Leafy green are rich in fiber. Important nutrient for weight loss and helps control hunger.
