Kanda Bachali kura


I am sharing with Kanda Bachali kura which is tasty and famous dish of East Godavari and West Godavari. Normally we make chips and pulusu with kanda. This special curry normally made in most of the occasions. I prepare this heavenly tasted dish at least once in month ie in bachali kura season. Try this delicious dish  which comes mustard paste flavor .

Ingredients
  • Kanda (Yam)                           1/2 kg
  • Bachli bunches                         2 or chopped leaves 4 1/2 cups
  • Green chillies                           4 chopped
  • Tamarind                                 small lemon size ( make thick juice)
  • Turmeric powder
  • Sugar                                      1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds                       1 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
For Popu
  • Mustered seeds
  • Channa dal
  • Urad dal
  • Dry red chillies                             
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil  
 
                              
How to prepare
  1. Wash kanda, peel out and cut into pieces.
  2. Cook them in a pressure cooker by adding turmeric powder for 3 whistles
  3. Mash them little and keep aside. Don't make them into a paste.
  4. Mean time take a pan, add oil let it heat on medium heat.
  5. Add mustered seeds, let them pop.
  6. Then add channa dal, urad dal, red mirchi and curry leaves .
  7. Fry them till it turns brown.
  8. Then add chopped bachali leaves and cook till the leaves becomes soften.
  9. Add turmeric juice to it and cook for 5 more minutes.
  10. Next add kanda, salt and sugar and stir well and cook for 5 minutes till bachli and kanda mix well
  11. Switch off the stove.
  12. Paste the mustard seeds by adding few drops of oil and mix the paste to kanda bachali kura and mix well.

        Serve this dish with garama garam rice or roti.
