There are different styles of mango pickle in India with state wise recipes. During mango season only these Mango pickles are prepared and all are busy in preparing mango pickles. I have been preparing different types mango pickle for the last 20 years in every summer. My mother also used prepare and kitchen is filled with jars filled with different varieties of mango pickle.
I am writing a rare type of Mango Pickle called Uppu Sogi. It is made out of mangoes mixed with til powder etc. Very tasty. Takes very little time for preparation. Normally in Telangana side they prepare it. My sister who is Hyderabad prepares this Uppu Sogi and we are very much fond of it. My son and daughter also like this very much. No spicy no karam but very tasty. Hurry up and try it this season.

INGREDIENTS
- Mango pieces 1 kg
- Salt 250 gms
- Til powder 200gms ( fry nuvvulu with out oil and grind into fine powder)
- Jeera powder 1tbsp
- Menthi powder 1tbsp
- Wash mangoes and cut into pieces (size as you like)
- Grind til powder, jeera powder and menthi powder by adding little water and make into fine paste
- Mix these paste to mango pieces along with salt and turmeric powder
- Keep it in the jar for 3 days and stir it occasionally
- See the taste .
I think you are having your own doubt now. Why adding water especially for pickle. Don't worry. Nothing will happen to the pickle and it will not spoil upto 6 months.
