Dosakaya Tomato kura

Hi Viewers

         Today I am coming with delicious dish  ie dosakaya, tomato curry mixed with little curd. It tastes good. Dosakaya are used in Andhra cooking usually in dals, sambar, curry, pachadi etc. This is variety and yummy dish.
 
         After I am back from Bangalore from my niece's wedding, there are no vegetables in the fridge except one dosakaya and 2 tomatoes. Also the curd I brought from sweet shop near by. I thought of making quick gravy curry and to adjust with one dish for that day.

         Try by your self this dish for tangy gravy mixing curd. Very easy to make and takes little time to prepare.

OK let us start.

Ingredients
  • Dosakaya                              1 large
  • Onion                                     1 medium (chopped)
  • Tomatoes                               2 ( chopped)
  • Green chillies                         2 (chopped)
  • Red chilli powder                   depends
  • Turmeric powder
  • Fresh curd                             1 cup
  • Daniya powder                       1 tbsp
  • Oil                                           2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
For popu
  • Mustard seeds
  • Dry red chilli                            1
  • Curry leaves                            1 sprig
How to prepare
  1. Peel outer layer of dosakaya and slice lengthwise and chop into bite sized pieces.
  2. Check for bitterness of vegetable before cooking.
  3. Take cooking pan .Heat 2 tbsp of oil on medium heat.
  4. Add mustard seeds . Let them pop.
  5. Add chopped onion , green chillies and turmeric powder.
  6. Stirring now and then cover and cook until done.
  7. Add chopped tomatoes, cook for few minutes.
  8. Then add dosakaya pieces, salt and red chilli powder. Reduce heat to low. Cover and cook.
  9. Add less or more water depending how you want gravy.
  10. Add curd. Mix well.
  11. See the curry starts bubling on top.
  12. Let it sit for couple of minutes.
  13. Transfer it into a serving bowl.
See the taste.

     It tastes good with rice and roti, best with garama garam rice with dollop of ghee.


Mt Note

If using green chillies. Adjust red chilli powder accordingly.
Add coconut powder to enhance the taste.
Do not add curd when the curry in hot. The curd will curdle.
Instead of dosakaya , you can use sorakaya also.
