Cabbage Masala Vada

Today I like to introduce the delicious snack item masala vada i.e. channa dal with combination of cabbage. There are many variations of masala vada. Masala vada is most popular snack item. We commonly find this yummy yummy masala vada in road side shops also.

I love to experiment in the kitchen. Each recipe in my blog has been published only after I tried and tasted .

Moreover my intention is to encourage the people to prepare home made food which is a healthier option.  Feeding yummy yummy dishes to friends and relatives brings satisfaction.

Let us go to my recipe Cabbage masala vada which gives gentle taste on the tounge.

INGREDIENTS
  • Channa dal                                      1/4 kg (soaked for 4 hours and strained)
  • Fresh cabbage                                1/4 (chopped roughly)
  • Ginger                                               2" pieces(chopped finely)
  • Green mirchi                                   7 (make it paste)
  • Curry leaves                                    handful (make into small pieces)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for fry

HOW TO PREPARE
  1. Keep fistful of soaked channa dal and keep aside.
  2. Blend the remaining dal  by adding little amount of water into a coarse paste.
  3. Take this coarse texture into a bowl.
  4. Then add chopped cabbage, ginger pieces, green mirchi paste, curry leaves pieces, fistful of soaked channa dal which we kept aside and salt to taste.
  5. Mix with your hand thoroughly.
  6. Take deep pan.Add oil and heat it on medium high.
  7. Make small size like balls with this coarse texture.
  8. Make vadas with your right hand on plantain leaf.
  9. Drop masala vadas gently into the oil .
  10. Fry them both sides till they turn into golden brown and crisp in batches.



See the taste of this yummy yummy cabbage masala vada.

Serve with allam chutney.

 It can be had with a cup of ginger chai on the rainy evening. You can also eat with sambar rice in main course.

 Note

Don't add onion when you add cabbage.
You can add  little chopped pudina also in it.
You can add chopped onion also in masala vada instead of cabbage.
You can add spring onion pieces also.
