Aratipuvvu Moong dal curry

Hi I am Kusuma from Kusuma's Abhiruchi.

Today I am going to introduce the traditional yummy yummy dish ie Aratipuvvu kura with combination of moog dal. Almost every part of the banana tree is used in different ways. This Aratipuvvu/ banana flower grows at the bottom of the stem holding so many bananas.

This Aratipuvvu is rich in nutritional value and good source of vitamin A and C.
At the same time moong dal is nutritional.

The process of making this curry takes long time. I think this generation doesn't know about this curry. In this mechanical life we made our life very busy. Hurry burry urban life made life routine. I think no body has enough patience to cook this type of curry. Don't worry. Find little time and cook this delicious, traditional and yummy dish which will make you happy.

Try by your self and see the taste of mouth watering curry ie Aratipuvvu and Moong dal curry.

STEP 1

Take Aratipuvvu/ banana flower. You find dark reddish brown colour leaf on it. Cut/discard the petal from the flower. You will find small bunch of finger size like small thin flowers.
Observe you can can find a stack with black tipped sigmas. My grand mother called these as dongalu (thieves). I don't know the real name. But we are continuing the same name as dongalu.
Remove these dongalu from from each flowerettee. It needs patience to take out the dongalu from each flower. It takes much time and you should pick with your thumb and point finger one by one at a time until you reach central heart of the flower. Keep aside.
