Attikaya Pesarapappu Kura

Today I am coming with the traditional, my grandmothers and mothers special dish i.e. Attikaya (fig) moong dal curry. We will use raw unripe figs for this. In our childhood days  thease fig trees were there in the back yard of our house in Railway quarters as my father was working in Railway Dept. Now a days in Urban areas or in apartments this fig trees are rare. Most of  this generation did not know about this fig tree.

This is a woody tree. Figs are rich in vitamins and fibre. The riped fruits are available in the market are called Atti pandu or fig fruit. It has good taste. My mother says before eating this fig fruit wash and open the fruit as it might contain insects. Out of 10 fruits atleast 3 fruits have insects.

We can find fig dry fruit also. My grandson and granddaughter likes this dry fruit very much. They take one fig dry fruit to school as snack item along with other dry fruits like pista etc.

Now lets come to raw figs curry. It takes time for preparaion of the figs curry but it is very tasty. Let us do once in a while as it is a healthy, dilicious and tasty.

It will go well with rice and roti.

I think the cooking process gets interesting. This is curry what my grandmother did.

My opinions

This fig curry takes much time for prepation.
So many times I thought of mentioned the exact time for preparation of curry
curry. But my answer for it is not to see the time consontrate on cooking item if you want the dish to be  tasty and yummy.

You can also make pappu pulusu and kootu also with raw figs.

Meet you again with yummy yummy recipes. Till then bye.
