This breakfast item kanchi idly is very famous dish in South India, commonly found Tamilnadu and little in Andhra Pradesh. This is a variety of idly. Healthy breakfast having nutrition values. Very tasty dish. Takes little time like normal idly after preparation of batter. Try it yourself once.

- Rice rava 2 cups
- Urad dal 1 cup
- Pepper 2 tbsp
- Jeera 2tbsp
- Ginger small piece (finely chopped)
- Curd 1/2 cup
- Hing pinch
- Salt as required
- Oil 6 tbsp
- Soak dal for 4 hours hours.
- Grind the dal (do not make it into a paste. Grind coarsely) and mix it with rice rava.
- Add salt, pepper corns and jeera and chopped ginger.
- Ferment it overnight.
- Next day morning add the curd and oil and mix well.
- Take small steel cups or small glasses, grease it with oil pour the batter ¾ into cups or glasses. Make pressure cooker ready for steaming. Keep all the cups according to your convieance.
- Steam it for 12 to 15 minutes check by inserting spoon in the middle.
- Let it cool for 2 minutes.
Note
You can use idly trays also for cooking kanchi idly.
Instead of rice rava you can use rice also.
