Kanchi idly

This breakfast item kanchi idly is very famous dish in South India, commonly found Tamilnadu and little in Andhra Pradesh. This is a variety of idly. Healthy breakfast having nutrition values. Very tasty dish. Takes little time like normal idly after preparation of batter. Try it yourself once.

Ingredients
 
  • Rice rava             2 cups
  • Urad dal             1 cup
  • Pepper                2 tbsp
  • Jeera                  2tbsp
  • Ginger                small piece (finely chopped)
  • Curd                  1/2 cup
  • Hing                    pinch
  • Salt                     as required
  • Oil                      6 tbsp

How to prepare
  1. Soak  dal for 4 hours hours.
  2. Grind the dal (do not make it into a paste. Grind coarsely) and mix it with rice rava.
  3. Add salt, pepper corns and jeera and chopped ginger.
  4. Ferment it overnight.
  5. Next day morning add the curd and oil and mix well.
  6. Take small steel cups or small glasses, grease it with oil pour the batter ¾ into cups or glasses. Make pressure cooker ready for steaming. Keep all the cups according to your convieance.
  7. Steam it for 12 to 15 minutes check by inserting spoon in the middle.
  8. Let it cool for 2 minutes.
      Serve hot with onion chetny and ghee.




Note

You can use idly trays also for cooking kanchi idly.
Instead of rice rava you can use rice also.
