Moru Columbu


Moru Kolambu is traditional and classic dish. Preparation is very simple and takes
little time for preparation.

Ingredients   (8 persons)

Batch 1

  • Bottle guard  1 small
  • Curd  2 cups
  • Khas khas  1 tbsp
  • Green mirchi  3
  • Ginger  small piece
  • Daniya  1 tbsp
  • Rice  ½ tbsp
  • Grated fresh coconut  3 tbsps
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder

Batch 2 (Popu)

  • Mustard seeds  ¼ spoon
  • Jeera  ½ spoon
  • Dry red mirchi  1
  • Coriander leaves
  • Ghee  ¼ spoon



How to prepare
  1. Peel out the skin of the bottle guard and cut into  1” piece or as you like .
  2. Boil them separately.
  3. Add some water to curd beat it and make it butter milk in thick consistency
  4. Grind all ingredients shown at batch 1 and make into fine paste and mix into butter milk
  5. Take a thick bottom bowl and add the above made mixture into it
  6. Now add boiled bottle guard pieces
  7. Add salt, turmeric powder curry leaves and coriander leaves.
  8. Keep the bowl on a low flame and boil the contents for 5 to 7 minutes and keep it aside
  9. Do not boil too much to prevent the curd from curdling
  10. Season it with mustard seeds , jeera , red chilli and some curry leaves
My Note

You can add fried masala vada made of channa dal or chow chow or  fried ladies finger  or bachali leaves to moru colambu according to your taste
